Episode 21. V2V & V2I; Autopilot imperfect; Mission E & MB EQS

Our biggest episode yet, clocking in at a whopping 27 minutes! Today: We discuss vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications; discuss why it’s ok that Tesla’s Autopilot will never be perfect; and briefly touch on Porsche’s reservation system for its new Mission and Mercedes’ upcoming EQS EV sedan.

V2V & V2I

V2V and V2I — that’s vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure — aren’t often talked about that often, but they should be. The idea is that cars will eventually be in constant communication with one another (V2V) and the infrastructure around them (V2I) such as signal lights and street signs.

Autopilot imperfect

So… Autopilot’s been having some issues lately. We discuss them.

Porsche’s Mission E and Mercedes’ EQS

Porsche’s Mission E is bleeding gorgeous; meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz talks about its upcoming line of EQ EVs, starting with its top-shelf model, the EQS based on its flagship, the S Class.
